Designed by Frankie, one of Cotes Mill's most senior Kitchen Designers and the custodians of Raynham Hall, this project was a first for us.
It was hard to imagine in the beginning how the kitchen would look, nestled in the middle of a room with such history, opulence and grandeur. But the truth is, this is a family home as well as a profoundly important stately home, so it needed to work on both levels. A tricky ask, and one that needed a sympathetic and exacting eye and lots of passion (enter Frankie!!).
Thankfully, it ended up being a triumph in every possible way. The finished room somehow managed, firstly, to carefully and painstakingly avoid all the original features, woodwork and artworks of major importance in a seamless way, ensuring the protection of the room but also the look and function of the finished kitchen and pantry.
Secondly, the design managed to look not only beautiful, practical and unbelievably simple, but it felt like it just belonged in the space. Our cupboards didn’t look uncomfortable or out of place, and they didn’t feel too old or too new. The kitchen just sat quietly and majestically in its little part of this vast house, creating a warm and welcoming family room that had just enough style and sparkle to feel special but not ostentatious.
Refectory Red Classic English deVOL cupboards, Heirloom Brass fittings, a gaselier light, smooth honed marble worktops, and the finishing touch, a deep wide brass sink positioned to enjoy views onto the magnificent grounds of Raynham Hall. Just twenty minutes from the beauty of the North Norfolk coastline and all its wonderful inland villages, this hall is quite the most fabulous place we have ever seen a deVOL kitchen.
