The Primrose Hill Kitchen

A Grade II listed Victorian terrace of the most perfect proportions, right in the middle of Primrose Hill, and a deVOL Classic English Kitchen too!? What a treat it was to visit this place for a day, where the famous hilltop and Regent's Park are literally a stone's throw away and all the delights of this little London enclave are there on your doorstep. We felt rather spoilt by it all!!

Now, up and into the kitchen where things got very elegant. Originally located down in the basement but cleverly moved to the first floor to make the most of this impressive room (just look at those huge old sash windows). The mood, the light and the colours in here were all excellent.

Just four freestanding cupboards from our Classic English collection were needed to create a simple, sociable and functional layout. Dishwashers, bins, fridges and freezers were hidden inconspicuously behind beautiful hand-painted doors and real consideration was given not just to the cabinets themselves, but also to the space left around them, so it all felt really airy and calm and easy to be in. We could quite happily have stayed here all day and night, people watching and pottering!!

A custom stony off-white paint for the perimeter furniture and our famous Pantry Blue for the island was a cool combination, in fact, it reminded us a little of the old deVOL days. Some things just never go out of style, do they? Honed Arabescato marble topped the cupboards and even ran up the wall to create a pretty fabulous splashback and shelf. Aged brass hardware added warmth, our creamware lights sat quietly and we especially loved the unexpected inclusion of a few Plumber's Stools, they worked so well here, adding a teeny bit of industrial edge.

We admire how our lovely customer and their deVOL designer, Kristina, were bold enough to actually pare it all right back in this new kitchen. To choose a handful of beautifully made cupboards and accessories, confident in the knowledge they will never go out of fashion or need replacing, but be enjoyed for a lifetime, and another.
