The St John's Square Showroom

Our magnificent new deVOL showroom in Clerkenwell has been such an exciting project, it has allowed us to display our Classic and Shaker cupboards in a very different way. We have gone for a more eclectic look with an emphasis on mixing vintage and new to make the space feel authentic and lived in. Our love of East London, such places as Fournier Street and Malplaquet House in Mile End, has given us so much inspiration and taught us to love and embrace the history of our townhouse. From the handmade green metro tiles to the colours on the walls, we have created an opulent yet comfortable kitchen for our customers to visit. We hope that it will inspire them to see not only the beauty of our Classic English furniture, but to see how naturally and easily it fits into these very special homes. There is still a whole house to work on, more rooms to make beautiful for our customers to wander around, full of things to buy and inspire.

The St John's Square showroom mixes deVOL's Classic and Shaker cabinetry and this is a great option for people who need certain items to be bespoke but are happy to have certain pieces in standard sizes. The two styles work really well together, in fact we often think a combination is the perfect solution both cost and style-wise. We chose to make the large, traditional and rather grand pantry cupboard and the sink run in our Classic English range, these spots required a little thought and we wanted to really make a feature of the high ceilings, existing fireplace and beautiful old plaster pillars. Around the cooker and island, Shaker cupboards worked well, the original tongue and groove panelling behind the cooker and the grandeur of the large Wolf range cooker meant that simple two door cupboards were enough of a statement. The large island is made up of several Shaker cupboards, it includes a fridge, storage and an open end with drawers, all achievable from our standard range of Shaker cupboards. We chose to use a stylish combination of marble and honed black granite for the worktops, the moulding on the edge of the sink worktop is a great detail that adds a smooth and tactile decorative finish, which works so well with the details in the room.
