The ‘Amelie’ is our first wooden doorknob, made of solid turned oak, then ebonised, to give it a rich, deep, dark finish. This exquisite doorknob will appeal to people who look for quality and quiet elegance throughout their home. The Amelie’s smooth and tactile shape is enhanced with a solid Heirloom Brass backplate, collar and small button detail on the top, taking it from simple to beautifully simple.

Turned wooden doorknobs became popular in the early 20th century, during the Edwardian era, so they will look just the part in any period home. All our brass door furniture has an Heirloom finish, so you can mix and match the range, and still be sure the finished look works throughout your home.

Doesn’t everyone love an old door? There is an endless fascination with their size, colour and age. Wherever you go in the world, there are huge, closed doors and tiny doors to peep through, any which way they offer intrigue, insight and a photo opportunity. The door may be laden with layers of paint or chipped lacquer and faded with age, but the star is always the expertly polished doorknob.

There is something quite delightful about adding a feature like this to a door, it’s the meticulous attention to detail that we love so much. The Victorians were masters at detail, they designed and crafted ornate items for their homes, expressing their excellent taste and status.

When we fitted the Amelie to a door for photographing we fell for its ability to work like an exquisite piece of jewellery, not too big, but bold enough to shine and make an impression.
