This room is our absolute favourite, just because it’s a little bohemian and downright glamorous and it’s the first really special display we’ve done with our Victorian Washstand. Even those of us who like calm, serene and understated interiors, can enjoy a little smattering of eccentricity.  A powder room is the perfect place to be adventurous and bold, it seems almost de rigueur in these little rooms.

The huge double doors into the room were where it all started, a pair of wonderfully weathered French exterior doors, from a UK salvage yard, gave us the idea of Parisian opulence. Our marble chequered tiles seem to have a knack of making every floor they touch just a whole lot better. We then settled on our Sepia Lace Market Tiles (lots of them!!!) and the rest fell into place.

It’s always our intention to make rooms feel as if they haven’t been curated or designed, but they have just happened through a sense of good style and taste. There are always those special places you visit, whether it’s on a holiday, visiting a relative or friend's home or a picture of a room in a book, that looks so unintentional, but so good. That certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ that some people have, they seem to be able to collect, choose, buy and place everything in their home in such a way that it looks effortless and easy.

There is a huge desire here at deVOL to make these kinds of rooms, our showrooms have obviously not evolved over time, but we really hope they appear that way. We achieve this look by using vintage accessories and carefully considered flooring, wall colours and styling that feels appropriate, comfortable, functional but above all, beautiful in an unconventional and almost unintentional way. There is nothing more alluring than a place, person or ‘powder room’ that is wild, authentic and captivating in a way that’s hard to put your finger on, to us that is the definition of style.
