A Flint Cottage on the East Coast

On a gloomy February day, we couldn’t think of anywhere we’d like to be more than a cosy Shaker kitchen in the English countryside, so we thought we’d give you a little tour!
The perimeter run, painted in deVOL’s ‘Bakehouse Green’, leans into the moody vibe we love so much in winter, but the prep table, painted in our ‘Princelet Pink’, injects just enough brightness so that the room never feels dingy.
Tall Shaker doors hide two full height fridges to the right of the sink and on the left are stacked ovens and a roomy storage cupboard. The handsome marble sink is a special detail, sitting pride of place in front of the window. Carved from a single block of Carrara marble, it’s one of those elegant pieces that signify you have true taste.
To keep the kitchen calm and uncluttered, there is a walk-in pantry too. Tiled floor-to-ceiling, this space uses our simple Shaker cupboards with pretty fabric skirts and rows of open shelves.
What a perfect spot for small appliances, cookbooks and jars of ingredients. Who said hardworking rooms can’t look lovely too?
The final area might be our favourite, a multi-purpose laundry and utility room. All the things you need to wash, dry, fold and iron, pot up a plant and hide away coats and wellies.
There’s even a cosy spot for the dogs! Simple but so cleverly designed.
